المستخلص: The aim of the research is to identify the role of public secondary schools in Damascus governorate in social development. And the detection of differences in the answers of the members of the research sample on the identification of social development according to the research variables: (scientific qualification, the number of years of experience, job description). The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach. The research sample (190) was a director and a teacher working in secondary education schools. The researcher applied a questionnaire consisting of (45) paragraphs, and the most prominent findings of the research: — The average level of the role of secondary school in social development from the point of view of principals and teachers, where the mean of the answers of the members of the research sample (2.95). — There were no statistically significant differences between the average responses of the members of the research sample on the questionnaire of social development according to the variable of the scientific level. — There were no statistically significant differences between the average responses of the members of the research sample on the questionnaire of social development according to the variable years of experience. There were no statistically significant differences between the average responses of the sample members to the social development questionnaire according to the job description variable.

هدف البحث إلى تعرف دور المدارس الثانوية العامة الرسمية في محافظة دمشق في التنمية الاجتماعية. والكشف عن الفروق في إجابات أفراد عينة البحث على استبانة التنمية الاجتماعية وفق متغيرات البحث؛ (المؤهل العلمي، عدد سنوات الخبرة، التوصيف الوظيفي). واعتمد الباحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. بلغت عينة البحث (190) مديرا ومدرسا من العاملين في مدارس التعليم الثانوي. وطبق الباحث استبانة تشمل (45) فقرة، ومن أبرز النتائج التي توصل إليها البحث: — وجود مستوى متوسط لدور المدرسة الثانوية في التنمية الاجتماعية من وجهة نظر المديرين والمدرسين، إذ بلغ المتوسط الحسابي لإجابات أفراد عينة البحث (2.95). — عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسط إجابات أفراد عينة البحث على استبانة التنمية الاجتماعية تبعا لمتغير المستوى العلمي. — عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسط إجابات أفراد عينة البحث على استبانة التنمية الاجتماعية تبعا لمتغير سنوات الخبرة. — عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسط إجابات أفراد عينة البحث على استبانة التنمية الاجتماعية تبعا لمتغير التوصيف الوظيفي.
