المستخلص: New technologies contribute to revolutionary changes in the way Garment is being conceived, designed, manufactured, and distributed. The three-dimensional body scanner is an important new technology for Garment production, but use of the tool is in its early stages of development. In this paper we present a methodology for producing three dimensional (3D) body fitting’ cycling sportswear, with realistic behavior, providing users with an opposite feel for the garment’s details. The sportswear (cycling Bib short) that are produced, using 3D scanning technology and 3D CAD system (software for Automotive seating industry) , originate from a real scan for a human body model and correspond to the accurate sizes that has been deducted from the wearer itself, its shape has been focused primarily to facilitate the movement of the cyclist. The main research goal is to produce mass customized cycling bib short using virtual avatar of the scanned body, 3D CAD software and to evaluate qualitatively the fitting quality of the final product. To achieve the above mentioned objective of this paper, the 3 D scanning technology and 3D concept software (software for the automotive seating industry), have been used. By using these, the best possibility of ergonomically comfort level of the product has been achieved, Because of the linkage between three dimensional human body and development of the product. The results led to the conclusion that the overall accuracy of the body fitting sportswear (Bib Short), which is directly designed on virtual Avatar through 3D DC tool was very good. This indicates that the trial of considering the textile material properties during the automatic pattern generation phase is also successful. This paper also offers a valuable detailed guideline for researches, who would be interested in approaching this new research area.
