المستخلص: يقترح البحث دراسة العودة إلى الماضي التاريخي في الرواية الفرنسية المعاصرة. أن الاهتمام الذي تبديه الرواية الفرنسية الراهنة تجاه الماضي ليس جديدا تماما، ذلك أنه يعود إلى سنوات النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين. لكنه سيصبح ظاهرة منتظمة في النتاج الروائي لسنوات الثمانينيات. بعد أن نتحرى وجود هذه العودة في الرواية الفرنسية المعاصرة، سننتقل إلى دراسة حالة خاصة تلك التي تمثلها روايات جان اشنوز. يعاود هذا الكاتب زيارة التاريخ، مرة عن طريق شخصيات فريدة (كما هو الأمر في رواياته: رافيل، عدو وبروق) ومرة ثانية عن طريق شخصية عامة من باقي الناس (مثلما الأمر في روايته 14). يتخذ الكاتب من استدعاء عناصر من الماضي العام حجة لإعادة تكوين تاريخ الشخصيات. أن هذا المقترب الخاص بالكتابة السيرية سيجدد ممارسات هذا النوع الفني وسيضع في المقدمة حجم الشكوك ونقاط الظل الملازمة لكل مسعى يهدف إلى تخييل تاريخ الشخوص.

Cette recherche propose d'étudier le retour au passé historique (collectif et/ou personnel) dans le roman français contemporain. Cet intérêt réactualisé du roman français pour le passé n'est pas tout à fait nouveau. C'est qu'il remonte aux années de la deuxième moitié du siècle dernier. Mais il devient phénoménal et quasi systématique dans la production romanesque des années 80. Je tracerai un bref état de la question pour ensuite signaler quelques cas intéressants et surtout analyser le phénomène dans les romans de Jean Echenoz. Cet auteur, qui revisite l'Histoire, une fois, par la présentation d'un homme commun (14) et d'autres fois par le truchement de figures singulières (Ravel, Courir et Des éclairs), prend de l'introduction des éléments du passé pluriel un alibi pour reconstituer l'Histoire des personnages. Cette approche «romancée» de la réécriture «biographique» a le mérite de renouveler l'exercice de ce genre et de mettre en exergue la panoplie d'incertitudes, de doutes et de zones d'ombres, inhérente à toute tentative ayant pour objectif la fictionnalisation de l'Histoire des personnes.

The research suggests studying the return to the historical past in contemporary French novel. The interest of the current French version towards the past is not entirely new, as it dates back to the years of the second half of the twentieth century. However, it will become a regular phenomenon in the fictional production of the 1980s. After we investigate the existence of this return in the contemporary French novel, we will proceed to a special case study that is represented by Jean Ecenoz’s novels. This author revisits history, once through unique personalities (as in his novels: Ravel, Enemy, and Lightning) and again through a public figure from the rest of the people (as in his novel 14). The writer takes from calling elements from the general past an argument to reconfigure the history of the characters. This approach to the biographic writing will renew the practices of this artistic genre and will put forward huge doubts and shadow points associated with each endeavor aimed at imagining the history of persons.
