|b This article is limited to practices that frame and articulate the teaching of a foreign language, in this case French. It is understood that the cases of dysfunction found were within the Department of the French language. However, through discussions after a defense or at the discretion of a conference, it appears that the same situations are found with similar difficulties in the other language departments of Algerian universities. After nearly fifty years of teaching and several basic responsibilities, I feel towards my young colleagues the duty to enlighten the why of certain incongruous pedagogical situations that arise in a daily practice of the teaching of the LMD.

|d Le présent article se limite aux pratiques qui cadrent et articulent l’enseignement d’une langue étrangère, en l’occurrence le français. Il est entendu que les cas de disfonctionnements constatés l’ont été au sein du Département de la langue française. Cependant à travers les discussions au terme d’une soutenance ou au gré d’un colloque, il appert que les mêmes situations se retrouvent avec des difficultés similaires dans les autres départements de langues des universités algériennes. Au bout de près de cinquante années à enseigner et plusieurs responsabilités de base, je ressens envers mes jeunes collègues le devoir d’éclairer le pourquoi de certaines situations pédagogiques incongrues qui surgissent dans une pratique quotidienne de l’enseignement du LMD.
