This paper investigates Enani’s Arabic translation of Eggers’ non-fictional book Zeitoun from a socio-pragmatic perspective. The study is intended to identify the problems that face the translator, and the strategies used by Enani to tackle them with reference to foreignization and domestication. Therefore, the main goal behind this study is to find out the extent of Enani’s neutrality when reproducing the TT in question in the Arabic language. A model of analysis based on new mark’s taxonomy of CSI is applied to the TT under investigation. The analysis is performed with strong reference to Grice’s maxims to reach a conclusion concerning the degree of accuracy and conciseness of the meanings reproduced in TT. The analysis comes to the finding that it is difficult to judge the extent of foregnization or domestication of translation in Zeitoun due to the translator’s inconsistency in translation that is frequently traced either in the use of different words and expressions rendering the same items when mentioned in nearly identical contexts, or in his deviation from the attitudes he chooses to adopt tackling certain problems in translation.
