Victor Hugo gives the notions of "social" and "human" immense scope throughout his work. His social thought has many aspects, each of which corresponds to one of the phases of the evolution of his literary and socio-political experiences. For this, we will examine the impact of the moral and social thought of the writer by trying to trace the evolution in his work. Thus, we propose to study, through this article, two stories of his youth The Last Day of a Sentenced and Claude Gueux, which deal with the question of capital punishment, the latter will generate another social topic, discussed at adulthood in his masterpiece Les Miserable, which is that of social justice and the fight against misery.
