إذا كانت التربية في بدايتها عملية فردية، بدأها الإنسان البدائي ومارسها نحو أبنائه، ومع التطور والتغير تحولت التربية من عملية فردية إلى اجتماعية، تهتم بها مجموعة من المؤسسات الاجتماعية لتشارك الأسرة في تربية الأبناء ومن بينها: المدرسة، دور العبادة، وسائل الإعلام... ونجد أن هناك أهدافاً مشتركة بين هذه المؤسسات لتحقيق تربية سليمة لأفراد المجتمع الواحد.
