The Copts are descended from the Caucasian race who came to Egypt in ancient times, and it was believed that they are indigenous to Egypt. There have been three trends or expressing the view of the Copts of the national thought, a trend that warns that it is not hostile, but shows that there is a confusion between the concept of national thought or Arab nationalism and the concept of Islamic unity or the Islamic University because they believed that they there is no difference between them, The most prominent example of these is the Coptic Church as an ecclesiastical institution, The second trend rejected the nationalist thought and called for the Egyptian nationalism, which emphasizes the national identity of Egypt regardless of religion, taking into the consideration the fact that Egypt belongs to one race, and they have a state and a system can go back to the time of the Pharaohs. Accordingly, some historians called it (Pharaonic thought or Pharaonic movement),The most notable people who represent it were Musa Salama. As for the latter trend, it is a supporter of the nationalist ideology which is seen as having a common destiny. Milad Hanna, Wissa Boutros-Ghali and Makram Ebeid, who asserts that the Egyptians are Arabs.
