520 |f This research is devoted to the resurrection of the character of Djuḥā in the two contemporary French and Arabic literatures through two works; the first is Moha LA Fou Le Sage by Ben Jelloun, a French-speaking author of Moroccan origin, the second, "Waķāiʽ ʽām al-fīl" by Al-Djamal, an Egyptian journalist and novelist. The problematic of this study focuses on the impact of the social, cultural and political environment on the creation of the two novels, an impact which is reflected in the text or back text they contain. Likewise, this research analyzed the divergence in the reception of each of the two works by the readers, especially with regard to the assimilation of the intertexte or the back-text which it contains; this analysis is based on the theory of the Model Reader of Umberto Eco, while adapting it to the cultural heritage of Djuḥā. This study aims, ultimately, to demonstrate the complementarity between Eco theory on the one hand and the two concepts of text and background text on the other hand, and to highlight their importance in determining the Target Reader of any literary work. \nThis abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2018
