المستخلص: Nul ne peut actuellement nier ou négliger l’importance de la recherche documentaire dans toutes les étapes du processus de traduction, à chaque fois que la base de données du traducteur est déficiente. Ainsi, cet article a pour objectif de mieux comprendre la recherche documentaire, son importance en matière de traduction, ses principes et ses démarches. Elle se propose, en plus, de jeter une lumière sur la nécessité de valoriser la recherche documentaire dans les cours de traduction en Algérie, et d’enseigner aux apprentis-traducteurs comment utiliser des outils extérieurs au texte à traduire pour acquérir les connaissances thématiques leur permettant de parvenir au niveau de compréhension requis du texte de départ et de ré exprimer de manière juste son contenu en langue cible.

Today, the importance of the documentary research in all stages of the translation process cannot be denied as well as the role of "cognitive complements" in order to produce a logical and accurate translation. In this article, we try, first, to understand better the documentary research, its principles and steps; then, to highlight the need to promote it in translation didactics in Algeria, and to teach the apprentice translators how to be able to “summon up” extralinguistic knowledge.

لا جرم أن البحث الوثائقي (recherche documentaire) يكتسي في الوقت الراهن أهمية بالغة في جميع مراحل العملية الترجمية وفي كل مرة يكون رصيد المترجم المعرفي عاجزاً عن إتمام عمله على أكمل وجه. ومن ثم، فإن هذا المقال يروم التعرف أكثر على البحث الوثائقي من حيث مفهومه وأهميته في الترجمة وأسسه ومنهجيته. كما يهدف إلى تسليط الضوء على لزوم الاهتمام به في درس الترجمة الجزائرية وضرورة تلقين الطلبة كيفية البحث عن مكملات معرفية تعينهم على فهم النص الأصل من جهة، وإعادة صياغته في اللغة المنقول إليها من جهة ثانية
