المستخلص: تعد الاستعارة من أكثر أنواع البيان بروزا في مباحث البلاغة واللغة فقد حظيت بالصدارة لما لها من القدرة على الاستيعاب الجمالي في تبليغ الخطاب إلا أنها بتطور الأبحاث، تجاوزت مفهومها المجازي فلم تعد مجرد ركنين يحذف أحدهما لتبلغ معنى معينا وإنما أصبح موقعها الفكر قبل اللغة. ترنو هذه الدراسة إلى تسليط الضوء على الاستعارة حين تنتقل من لغة إلى أخرى أثناء الترجمة، مستعنين بما وصل إليه كل من جورج لايكوف ومارك جونسون في نظريتهما المعرفية في هذا المجال متخذين من آية القرآن الكريم عينة للتطبيق خاصة تلك المتعلقة بالموازين وعالمية العدل الذي تمثله.

Al- Isti'ara (metaphor) constitutes one of the most prominent figures in the Arabic Rhetoric. It has gained a leading position for its aesthetic characteristics in the transmission of discourse. However, with the progress of research, it has gone beyond its metaphorical concept, it means no longer just two constituents (arkans) which are the linking particles and the tenor or vehicle are deleted to convey a special meaning, but is now considered more as a cognitive device than a linguistic one. Thus, the most appropriate approach to analyze and study it is perhaps the cognitive approach. In this research study, we will try to understand the Qur'anic metaphor in the light of the findings of George Lakoff and Mark Johnson on the one hand and Newmark's efforts in dealing with metaphor on the other in order addresses the following research question: How could the cognitive approach help in understanding and translating metaphor?
