المستخلص: This paper addresses an analysis and evaluation of the economic performance of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development which known by its abbreviation "IGAD" , it includes eight members from East African countries, and also considered as one of the most important African sub- regional blocs. The evaluation will rely on an analysis of the level of investment and intra-regional trade among members of the Sub-regional bloc, to answer the question: Has the organization succeeded in achieving its goals? It was important for the research to begin by observing the most important conditions and circumstances that accompanied the founding of the organization, then discussing how the membership system of "IGAD" has developed as well as its goals and principles had accompanied the goals and principles of both African Union and COMESA. Finally the research ends with recording the most important results with a focus on the most important obstacles that facing the members countries to achieving the goals of established the organization. The research was divided into three axes discussing the abovementioned main points: the first, the establishment of the inter-governmental authority on development, the second the principles and goals of IGAD and finally the economic performance of IGAD.
