المستخلص: This article examines and analyses the perception and the interpretation of colors and light that domine the novel of Albert Camus L’Etrangerin the Arabic translation. We will study the case of two well-known and distinguished Arab translators of the novel of Camus: Ayda Matarji and Mohammad Ghattas. Indeed, the perception and the translation of the colors in the extracts are not the same for both translators. We make here the difference between real colors defined by the physicist in terms of length and waves, and the color that is perceived from a social and cultural point of view. Regarding these differences, this article aims to confirm the fact that literary texts are not easily interpreted. They must be situated in their cultural and social context. And that the differences in interpretation of colors in this text of Camus is a sign of the link between these colors and the perception of absurdity and the existentialist vision of the author.

Cet article se propose d’examiner et d’analyser la perception et l’interprétation des couleurs et de lumière qui submergent le récit de L’Étrangerd’ Albert Camus dans la traduction arabe. Nous comparons dans cette étude les interprétations de deux grands traducteursarabes du récitenquestion: celled 'Aida Matarji et celle de Mohammad Ghattas. En effet, la perception des couleurs dans les extraits du récit de Camus se trou veunpeu différenciée selon le point de vue et l’expérience de chacun de ces traducteurs. Nous notons ici, bien sûr, l’écart entre la couleur réelle (défini par les physiciens en terme de longueur d’onde, et la couleur perçue du point de vue culturel et social. Vues les différence set les nuances des traductions, cet article vise à confirmer le fait que les textes– surtout littéraires– sont difficilement Int er prêtables isolément, ilsdoiventêtrere placés dans leur contexte culturel et social. De plus, l’incertitude et les différences des interprétations nous conduisent à la perception de l’absurde et du rapport entre les couleurs de ce récit et la vision existentialiste de l’auteur.
