|a تتناول هذه الدراسة فترة مهمة وحرجة في العلاقات الدولية، فقد قامت إسرائيل بالهجوم على مصر في ٥ يونيو ١٩٦٧، وفي ذلك الوقت كانت علاقات إيطاليا بالعالم العربي طيبة بوجه عام. وعلى الجانب الآخر فإن إسرائيل نجحت من جانبها في توثيق علاقاتها بإيطاليا في مختلف المجالات، وقد ساعدها في ذلك وجود جاليات يهودية قوية في أوروبا، ومن هذا المنطلق تبلور الموقف الإيطالي تجاه أزمة الشرق الأوسط. كانت توجهات الخارجية الإيطالية منصبه على القيام بدور الوسيط في الأزمة، وأن موقف الحكومة الإيطالية يقوم على أن العمل البناء هو محاولة الوصول إلى حل شامل عن طريق الأمم المتحدة، هذا في الوقت الذي أكدت فيه الحكومة الإيطالية أن إسرائيل قائمة وباقية، ولكن سرعان ما انتقلت الحكومة الإيطالية من سياسة الحياد بين الدول العربية واسرائيل إلى سياسة التأييد لإسرائيل. وتجدر الإشارة أن موقف إيطاليا خلال الأزمة كان موقفا مزدوجا بين الخارجية من جهة والأحزاب الإيطالية من جهة أخرى، فقد واجهت الأحزاب المؤتلفة ضغوط داخلية وخارجية، هذا بالإضافة إلى الرأي العام الإيطالي المتعاطف مع إسرائيل، وكذلك ولاء إيطاليا التام لحلف الأطلنطي، والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية التي تدعم الأحزاب الحاكمة سياسيا وماديا، وهذا ما يفسر الموقف الذي وقفته إيطاليا والذي يختلف عن مواقف الدول الأخرى المشتركة في حلف الأطلنطي بالنسبة لهذه الأزمة. وعلى الرغم من أن إيطاليا كان أمامها فرصة بحكم موقعها الجغرافي والسياسي، باعتبارها إحدى دول حوض البحر المتوسط، لكي تلعب دورا مهما في حل الأزمة، إلا أن سياستها التابعة للغرب أفقدتها رؤيتها، وجعلتها تابعة في تنفيذ ما يملئ عليها بحجة انضمامها لحلف شمال الأطلنطي.

|b This study deals with an important and critical period in international relations. Israel attacked Egypt on June 5, 1967, and at that time Italy's relations with the Arab world were generally good. On the other hand, Israel has succeeded in strengthening its relations with Italy in various fields. This success has been aided by the presence of strong Jewish communities in Europe. In this sense, the Italian position towards the Middle East crisis has crystallized. The Italian Foreign Ministry's position played the role of mediator in the crisis, and the position of the Italian government which is based on constructive work is to try to reach a comprehensive solution through the United Nations, at a time when the Italian government has confirmed that Israel exists and remains, then the government Italian has changed its policy of neutrality between the Arab countries and Israel to the policy of support for Israel. It should be noted that Italy's position during the crisis was a dual position between the Foreign Ministry and the Italian parties. On the other hand, the combined parties faced internal and external pressure, in addition to the Italian public opinion sympathetic to Israel, as well as Italy's total loyalty to the Atlantic Alliance and the United States of America which supports the political and the material parties, which explains Italy's different position from that of other NATO countries in relation to this crisis. Although Italy had an opportunity as a Mediterranean country to play an important role in resolving the crisis, its Western based policy made it lose its vision and held it dependent on the fulfillment of the pretext which is justified by joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
