This research studies the phonetic changes on pointing words (asma’ al-isharah) both singular and plural as well as pointing words that indicate a place in the Tihamah accent from the region of Al-Baha. The aim of this research is to analyse and explain this change and trace it back to its cultural roots, and I may apply the descriptive analytical approach in order to achieve this aim. The most important results reached were: explaining the introduction of the hamza (the madd language) when pointing to the far and not the near in (tha’ik > tha’ak) which changes to (tha’ik), and what follows this rule in pointing to a singular (ta’ik) which becomes (ta’ik), as well as (oula’ik > oula’ak) which becomes (thalla’ak), so the hamza indicates distance, and it is originally (yaa) but removed when pointing to something near, and kept when pointing to something far so that it matches the sound extension required when pointing to something far. This research also finds that what is named by linguists and grammarians as lam al-bu’d in words such as ‘thalika’ is actually a substitute for the hamza, and not the other way round. This research is of the opinion that the changes which occurred in the plural form in more than one linguistic environment probably goes back to an old origin, and that these variations are carved from ‘tha’ and ‘oula’a’ in words like ‘thawla’ and from ‘tha’ and ‘oula’ik’ in words like ‘thoulak’ and ‘thallak’. It is also found that the introduction of the silent ha in the accent in words like ‘thammah’ was for the sake of enhancing the letter before the ha, not for the actual ha itself, but in order to correct the vocal clip. This research recommends carrying out further studies on phonetic changes related to indeclinable (mabni) words in the Tihamah Al-Azad environment and others, because there are certain changes with strong connections to classical Arabic (fusha)
