المستخلص: The present study aimed at investigating the effect of using SQ6R strategy on developing speaking skills for 3rd year prep Al Azhar institute students. A group of 60 third year Al Azhar prep institute students were randomly selected. They were divided into two groups; (30) students for the experimental group and (30) students for the control group. After being sure that they were equivalent, students in the experimental group received instruction through the suggested SQ6R strategy while students in the control group received regular instruction. A pre-post speaking test was developed to measure the effect of the suggested SQ6R strategy on developing the students’ speaking skills. The results showed that the experimental group students' speaking skills were developed due to the use of the SQ6R strategy. It was concluded that the SQ6R strategy had a large effect on developing speaking skills for third year prep Al Azhar institute students'.
