استهدف البحث دراسة العلاقة بين التوافق الزواجي للزوجين والعنف الأسري والمقارنة بين عينة من المصريين والسعوديين في العوامل ذات الفاعلية لتحقيق التوافق الزواجي والدافعة للعنف الأسري وهل هي متشابهة أم تختلف باختلاف المجتمعات ودراسة ما يجب على الدولة اتخاذه لمواجهة ظاهرة العنف الأسري في ضوء وثيقة مارس 2013 لمناهضة العنف ضد المرأة واتبع البحث المنهج الوصفي والتحليلي وطبق البحث على عينة قوامه (360 زوج: 360زوجة) تم اختيارهم بطريقة عمدية صدفية ممن مر على زواجهم 3 سنوات فأكثر ولديهم طفل واحد على الأقل ولا يزيد سن الزوجة عن 55 سنة وتكونت أدوات البحث من استمارة للبيانات العامة واستبيان للتوافق الزواجي ومقياس للعنف الأسري وتم حساب صدق وثبات الأدوات. وأظهرت النتائج وجود علاقة ارتباطية سالبة بين التوافق الزواجي كمتغير مستقل والعنف الأسري كمتغير تابع. أي كلما زاد التوافق الزواجي بأبعادها (التوافق في الاختيار، التوافق الأسري باتفاق الزوجين على الخطوط العامة إدارة شئون الأسرة، التوافق الاقتصادي بالرضا عن الجوانب المالية للأسرة، التوافق الوجداني والجنسي لدى الزوجين بعضهم للبعض) كلما انخفض العنف الأسري. أي أن السبيل لحل مشكلة العنف الأسري هي تحقيق التوافق بين الزوجين. كما وجدت فروق بين المصريين والسعوديين في التوافق الزواجي والعنف الأسري والعوامل ذات الارتباط بهما. فتبين أن العوامل الداعمة للتوافق الزواجي لدي المصريين ارتفاع المستوى التعليمي للزوج والزوجة وعمل الزوجة وارتفاع الدخل الشهري يساهم بشكل إيجابي في توافق الزوج ويرضي الزوجة عن اختيارها الزواجي بينما يؤثر زيادة عدد أفراد الأسرة سلبا على التوافق الوجداني للزوج، أما مدة الزواج تؤثر في التوافق الوجداني والاقتصادي للزوج والتوافق الأسري والاقتصادي والكلي للزوجة. أما العوامل المؤثرة على التوافق الزواجي للسعوديين اختلفت عن المصريين في كون ارتفاع الدخل الشهري عاملا سلبيا عن توافق الزوجة السعودية الزواجي بشكل عام وقلل توافقها الأسري ورضاها عن الاختيار الزواجي. بينما ارتفاع مستوى تعليم الزوج يجعلها أكثر رضا وجدانيا. في حين ارتفاع مستواها التعليمي مثل أثر سلبيا في توافق الزوج السعودي الأسرى وإيجابا في رضاها عن الاختيار الزواجي. أما زيادة عدد أفراد الأسرة يمثل عامل إيجابي في التوافق الأسري للزوج السعودي ولا يؤثر على التوافق الزواجي للمرأة. ووجدت فروق في التوافق الوجداني للزوجات السعوديات وفقا لمدة الزواج لصالح المدة الأقل من 5 سنوات. ولم يؤثر سن الزوجة في التوافق الزواجي للأزواج والزوجات السعوديات تحت الدراسة. لم تؤثر مدة الزواج في العنف الأسري بأبعاده للمصرين والسعوديين. أما عمر الزوجة لم يؤثر على السعوديين بينما الأزواج المصريين كانوا أكثر عنفا مع الزوجات الأكبر سنا (40 سنة فأكثر) بناء على النتائج السابقة توصي الباحثة بضرورة تكوين فريق عمل ووضع استراتيجية قومية محددة المدة للقضاء على العنف الأسري تتبناها رئاسة الوزراء وتنفذها وزارة الأعلام، المؤسسات الدينية، وزراة الشئون الاجتماعية، المجلس القومي للمرأة. وضرورة مراجعة الاتفاقيات التي وقعت عليها مصر والمملكة العربية السعودية والتدقيق في بنودها وفقا لم تم من دراسات عليها.
