|b What must the translator do: the correct meaning or the correct syntax? Is it sufficient to master the grammatical rules in order to translate easily? Although normative grammar is a necessary part to solve the grammatical, lexical and semantic difficulties in the translating operation, it proves insufficient. ln this contribution, a question arises: What must one translate to the right: language, grammar, rhetoric or style? Our succinct study of contrastive linguistics, carried out on a literary corpus translated from French into English, takes a critical look at current pedagogical translation, illustrated by various examples belonging to two different literary genres: 2 excerpts from novels and 2 Other extracts of poetry. Our contribution comes in three ways: first, the linguistic dimension examines the lexical and semantic grammatical difficulties of the French source text into the English target text; the second, the rhetorical dimension brings out the problem of the difficulty of the translation of The metaphor and the stylistic dimension distinguishes stylistics from the French expression of the English one (the expressive of the neutral). Finally, the creative dimension perceives translation as re-creation, because the primordial role of the translator in the translating operation is not reduced to practicing exercises (translating or reformulating them), but rather to mastering a cerebral activity in which the mind is constantly exercising.

|d Que doit rendre le traducteur: le sens exact ou la syntaxe correcte? Suffit-il de maîfriser les règles grammaticales, afin de traduire aisément? Bien que la grammare normative soit un pan nécessaire à résoudre les difficultés grammaticales, lexicales et sémantiques, elle s'avère insumsante. Dans cette contribution, une question s’impose : que doit-on fraduire au juste : la langue, la grammaire, la rhétorique ou le style? Notre succincte étude de linguistique confrastive, menée sur un corpus littéraire traduit du français vers l'anglais, porte un regard critique sur la traduction pédagogique actuelle, illustrée par 4 exemples variés relevant de deux genres littéraires différents: 2 extraits de textes de roman et 2 autres de poésie à partir d'une expérimentation sur 20 (traducteurs-apprentis) Notre contribution se décline de frois manières suivantes : premièrement, la dimension linguistique examine les diffcultés grammaticales lexicales et sémantiques du texte source le français vers le texte cible l’anglais, deuxièmement, la dimension rhétorique révèle un cas d'étude de traduction de la métaphore et la dimension stylistique distingue la stylistique de l’expression française de celle anglaise (l’expressif du neutre). Enfin, la dimension créatrice perçoit la traduction comme re-création, parce que le rôle dévolu au traducteur ne se réduit pas à pratiquer des exercices (les traduire ou les reformuler), mais plutôt qu'il aà maîtriser une activité cérébrale où l’esprit s'exerce constamment.
