520 |f This work is part of historical linguistics (history of the Italian language and grammar). The focus of this research will be directed to the study and analysis of the phenomena of learned words, popular words and Allotropy in the Italian language. The study of these phenomena will focus on two basic aspects: highlighting the historical and crucial relationship between the Latin language and the Italian language, where the former was the source of the latter, especially in the lexical field. The second aspect will be an "analysis of how the lexicon of uninterrupted tradition, that is the words derived from sermovulgaris (vulgar Latin) by means of the phonetic and semantic transformations of the speakers (popular voices), has been enriched by learned voices, i.e. directly from classical Latin. This process of formation and transformation is called allotropy: two words with different shapes and meanings but with the same etymology, for example: from Lat. vĭtium two outcomes are derived: habit (popular word) that is coaxing and vice (learned word) that is moral defect.
