The content of this article, as indicated by its title, is to ask the possible existence of a philosophy of religion in Descartes' philosophical system under the prism of the report established by the latter between reason and faith on the one hand, and the relationship between « revealed truths » and « acquired truths », on the other hand. Given the nature of faith whose content is characterized by its obscurity for the human understanding, as well as by the certainty of «revealed truths » over «acquired truths », this article refutes the existence of a philosophy of religion in the Cartesian system; first, because of the fact of the absence of an investment of religion through philosophical reason, then, because « revealed truths » transcend human reason. The line of demarcation separating the two orders of truths does not lead, in Descartes' system, to a contradiction, but rather to reconciliation and a complementarity between them. This is an objective drawn beforehand by this author, that is to say, to show that Cartesian philosophy was more compatible with Catholicism than Aristotelian philosophy.
