Generally speaking, most of Iraqi EFL university students are still insufficient in comprehending literary texts. Therefore, the present study aims at finding out the effect of SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) strategy on Iraq EFL university students' achievement in literary texts. A null hypothesis has been formulated in this study which states that there is no statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group, which is taught according to SQ3R strategy and that of the control group, which is taught according to the conventional method, in their achievement in the written test. The Population of this study comprises Iraqi EFL 2nd Year University students enrolled at the Department of English College of Education/ University of Samarra during the academic year 2017-2018 with a total number of 60 Students. The results show that EFL university students of the experimental group have achieved significantly better scores than the control group on the achievement test. This demonstrates that using SQ3R strategy incurs better learning outcomes for students, than the conventional teaching method. Finally, on the basis of the results arrived at, conclusions are drawn.
