The present study is a contrastive analysis of asyndeton in English and Arabic. It, therefore, aims at exploring the use of asyndeton as a stylistic and rhetorical device in English and Arabic. It is, mainly, hypothesised that there are similarities as well as differences concerning the use of asyndeton in English and Arabic from phonological, syntactic, and semantic viewpoints. The hypotheses of the present study are verified through a contrastive analysis which focuses on the three linguistic levels of phonology, syntax, and semantics. The results of the present study shed light on how asyndeton is used in English and Arabic. The present study concludes that there are some areas that are common to the two languages, English and Arabic, and some others which are restricted to one language rather than the other as far as asyndeton is concerned. Moreover, it concludes that asyndeton can affect the three linguistic levels in both languages. However, Arabic is more explicit than English in the sense that the use of asyndeton in Arabic requires some conditional uses as the complete connection which can be either a statement, an emphasis, or an apposition, the semi-complete connection, the complete breaking up, and the semi-complete breaking up. In English, there are no such conditional uses of asyndeton.
