لقد تناولت في هذه الدراسة أسماء عددٍ من قرى وادي الهَوَّاد، لمعرفة دلالة الاسم وأصله وآراء السكان المحليين في سبب التسمية، متبعاً المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، واستقراء معاجم اللغة، الأهداف: أسعى للكشف عن أصل هذه الأسماء، ومعرفة دلالة هذه الأسماء، ومدى صدق الروايات التي يتناقلها أهل هذه المناطق عنها. وتكمن أهمية الدراسة في توضيح بعض الجوانب اللغوية لأسماء هذه الأماكن وصلتها باللغة العربية، وهو أمر يجعله كثير من الناس، الاعتماد على الروايات الشعبية في تفسيرها يذهب بها بعيداً عن أصلها وتاريخها. ومن النتائج المهمة التي توصلت إليها الدراسة: جهل معظم السكان المحليين بدلالة هذه الأسماء وأصلها، اختلاق قصصٍ أقرب إلى الخيال لتعليل هذه التسميات، ومعظم هذه التفاسير يعتمد على الروايات الشعبية التي لا تستند إلى دليل.
In this study, I dealt with the names of a number of villages in Wadi al-Hawad, to find out the significance of the name, its origin, and the views of the local population regarding the reason for naming. Following the analytical descriptive approach, extrapolating the language dictionaries, the objectives: I seek to uncover the origin of these names, know the significance of these names, and the extent of the authenticity of the narrations transmitted by the people of these regions about them. The importance of the study lies in clarifying some of the linguistic aspects of the names of these places and their relevance to the Arabic language, which is something that many people unaware of Relying on popular narratives in their interpretation takes them away from their origin and history. The important finding of this study is that most of the local residents are unaware of the origin and meaning of these names. They invent stories closer to fiction to explain the villages names, and most of these stories are based on popular narratives that are not based on evidence.
