المستخلص: This study aims at determining the effectiveness of using simulation as a technique for teaching English to fourth preparatory school female students. In order to achieve this aim , three hypothesis are formulated : 1- There is no significant difference between the scores on the Mid –year test and those on the Post –test of the control group. 2- There is no significant difference between the scores on the Mid-year test and those on the Post-test of the experimental group. 3- There is no significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and those of the control group, on the achievement test (oral and written). An achievement test (oral and written) is constructed and exposed to a jury of specialists for the purposes of ascertaining its face validity. A Person Correlation Coefficient Formula is applied to calculate the inter scorer reliability. The sample of this study consists of fifty preparatory school female students selected from Al-Kansa'a Secondary School for Girls during the academic year 2011-2012. The sample is divided into two groups A and B. Both groups are equalized in the variables of parents' level academic and mid-year exam. The experimental design of the study involves two groups; control group and experimental group. The experiment started on 19th of February and ended at 1st of May. Both groups are taught units 3 and 4 by the researcher herself. The collected data have been analyzed by using t- test formula. Results show: 1-There is no significant difference between the achievement of the control group in mid-year test and that of the post– test. 2- There is significant difference between the achievement of the experimental group in mid-year test and that of the post-test. 3- There is significance difference between the post -test scores of the experimental group and those of the control group, and in favour of the experimental one. Hence, the first hypothesis is accepted whereas the second and third ones are rejected. This indicates that simulation has an effective role in students' achievement in English. In the light of the study findings, a number of recommendations and suggestions are put forward.
