لازال تأثير جائحة كورونا في مختلف دول العالم قائما على أغلب جوانب الحياة وإن كان درجات متفاوتة. فالتأثيرات الاقتصادية من خسائر وأرباح مفقودة في قطاعات الأعمال التي لها علاقة بالتنقل والسياحة والترفيه كانت هي الأشد. ولم يكن قطاع التعليم العالي من جامعات ومؤسسات تعليم عليا في مأمن من ذلك، فالكثير من الجامعات حول العالم قامت إما بتأجيل أو إلغاء جميع فعالياتها، من دراسة وأنشطة ومحافل أكاديمية وبحثية؛ بما في ذلك المؤتمرات العلمية؛ مما أثر بشكل ملحوظ على أدائها الأكاديمي. على أية حال، هناك جامعات قد واجهت تحدي الجائحة بتطوير سبل وحلول مبتكرة لاستمرار النشاط الأكاديمي والبحثي فيها؛ مثل التعلم الإلكتروني، والمؤتمرات العلمية الافتراضية، والعمل في مجموعات بحثية عن بعد. ولكن مثل هذه الحلول، إضافة إلى أنها تتطلب وسائل ومعدات لتنفيذها، تحتاج إلى أعضاء هيئة تدريس لديهم معرفة ومهارة في هذا السياق، ورغبة حقيقية لتنفيذه. أغلب الجامعات الليبية، لم تحرك ساكنا إلا على استحياء تجاه هذه الأزمة؛ وجمدت أغلب أنشطها الأكاديمية والبحثية. هذا البحث، يهدف للتعرف على الوضع الحالي للأداء الأكاديمي للجامعات الليبية، من وجهة نظر أعضاء هيئة التدريس، وأثر جائحة كورونا على أنشطهم الأكاديمية والبحثية. باستخدام المنهج الكمي، والعينة التراكمية، واستمارة الاستبيان، تم استطلاع آراء 365 عضو هيئة تدريس في الجامعات الليبية، وتحديد اتجاهاتهم نحو سبل التطوير الأكاديمي التي تبنتها العديد من الجامعات العربية والدولية خلال فترة الجائحة. أظهرت النتائج أن أهم مظاهر الجائحة تأثيرا على عمل أعضاء هيئة التدريس هي القلق من انتشار الوباء، وقرارات وتعميمات وزارة التعليم بشأن الدراسة في الجامعات الليبية. كان للجائحة أثرا متوسطا على خطط وأسلوب التدريس لأعضاء هيئة التدريس ومشاركاتهم العلمية؛ وقد كان هذا الأثر متفاوتا بحسب الدرجة العلمية والخبرة العملية لعضو هيئة التدريس. وقد بينت نتائج البحث أن لأعضاء هيئة التدريس بالجامعات الليبية اتجاهات إيجابية قوية تجاه سبل واستراتيجيات التطوير الأكاديمي التي طبقتها الجامعات الدولية لمواجهة جائحة كورونا.
COVID-19 pandemic impact is still ongoing across most life aspects in the world, with various level from country to country. However, the economic impacts (i.e., actual losses and lost profits) on the business sectors such as transportation, tourism and entertainment have been the worst one. Further, the higher education sector, including universities and higher education institutions, was not safe from this impact, as many universities around the world have either postponed or suspended all their activities, including study, academic and research activities. This, obviously, has affected their academic performance. However, high ranked universities have managed to face the challenges of the pandemic by developing innovative ways and solutions to continue academic and research activity, such as e-learning, virtual conferences and working online. However, such solutions, especially in the developing countries, require not only well-established infrastructure and an appropriate level of technology, but also knowledgeable, skillful and motivated faculty members to implement. In this context, most Libyan universities have not reacted seriously to the crisis' impact unfortunately, as all what they carried out is suspending the education process and academic activities. This research aims to identify the current situation of academic performance of Libyan universities, from the faculty members' point of view, and the impact of the pandemic on their academic and research activities. Using the quantitative method, the online snowball sample and the questionnaire, 365 responses were collected from the faculty members in Libyan universities to explore their attitudes towards the adopted strategies for academic development by Arab and international universities during the pandemic time. The results show that the most important aspect of the pandemic affecting the work of faculty members are their concern about the spread of the COVID-19 and the decisions/announcements of the Ministry of Higher Education regarding studying in Libyan universities. However, the pandemic had a moderate impact on the plans and teaching style of faculty members and their scientific contributions. This effect was depending on the academic rank and work experience of the faculty member. The analysis also reveals that the faculty members in Libyan universities have strong positive trends towards the methods and strategies of academic development that international universities have applied to manage the education process and research activities during the pandemic time.
