المستخلص: This study aimed at investigating the effect of cloud-based collaborative writing on enhancing the writing performance and motivation of English major students at the Faculty of Education. For this purpose, 27 third year English major students at Tanta Faculty of Education were selected and exposed to cloud-based collaborative writing instruction. The experiment lasted sixteen (ninety minute) sessions over the second term, 2018. This study adopted a pretest posttest quasi-experimental mixed-method design. In this design, quantitative then qualitative data collection methods were used. That is, two parallel forms of writing tests and a motivation questionnaire then reflection sheets and evaluation forms were the instruments of the current study. Also, quantitative then qualitative data analysis methods (statistical then thematic) were implemented. Results of the study revealed significant differences at the 0.01 level between students' pretest and posttest mean scores on writing performance and motivation scales. Students' writing fluency and complexity were also enhanced. It is concluded that cloud-based collaborative writing was effective in enhancing the writing performance and motivation of English major students at the Faculty of Education. Consequently, it is recommended that cloud-based collaborative activities be used in EFL writing contexts. Last, suggestions for further research were offered.
