المستخلص: يهدف هذا البحث إلى استعراض أهم الجوانب التي ينبغي أن يتضمنها التجديد في المعجم العربي الحديث، انطلاقا من الجوانب الجوهرية في مضمونه ووصولا إلى إخراجه وطباعته، وذلك بما يتناسب مع احتياجات المستهدفين، ومع متطلبات العصر الحديث ومستجداته. كما يهدف إلى إبراز أهم الثوابت والشروط التي ينبغي التمسك بها عند بناء المعجم أو تجديده؛ لئلا يفسد منهجه أو تلغي هويته العربية. وجاء في مبحثين، خص الأول منهما بالحديث عن مسوغات التجديد وضوابطه. وعني المبحث الثاني بجوانب التجديد في المعجم العربي الحديث. وأكد في خاتمته على ضرورة العمل على دراسة احتياج المستفيدين من المعجم العربي قبل صنع المعجم. والإفادة من الأجهزة الحاسوبية في عمل إحصاءات وإنشاء قواعد بيانات تضم الألفاظ والتراكيب والنصوص اللغوية؛ لتتم معالجتها والإفادة منها في صنع المعجم. وأن التجديد في المعجم أو إخراج معاجم نوعية متخصصة تحقق الفائدة المرجوة والنقلة الموعودة في المعجم تحتاج إلى أن يتصدى لها مؤسسات علمية متخصصة تتضافر فيها جهود المتخصصين في صناعة المعاجم مع جهات علمية أخرى مختصة بالحاسوب والتقنية, والسير وفق خطة علمية وزمنية محكمة.

This research aims to review the most significant aspects that modernization of the Modern Arabic Lexicon must include, starting from the substantive aspects of its content, and ending up with its professional printing design and publishing in accordance with the needs of the targeted readers, as well as modern-day requirements and advancements. It also aims to highlight the most critical principles and conditions that must be adhered to when building up or modernizing the Lexicon, so as not to deviate from its approach or discrediting its Arabic identity. This study consisted of two topics: the first discusses the grounds and guidelines for the modernization process, while the second tackles the Modern Arabic Lexicon modernization aspects. The conclusion emphasizes the significance of studying the needs of users of the Arabic Lexicon prior to building it up, as well as utilizing computer devices in the conducting statistics and the creating databases containing language items, vocabulary, syntax, and linguistic texts to be processed and used in building up the Lexicon. The modernization of the Lexicon or building up specialized quality lexicons achieving intended advantages, and the promised breakthrough in the Lexicon, need to be undertaken by specialized academic institutions in which the efforts of lexicon industry specialists collaborate with other computer and technical entities following a carefully outlined academic plan within a specific time frame.
