المستخلص: In addition to the root cause for which the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was drawn up, which was the demarcation of new borders between the United States and Mexico after the Mexican-American War came to an end, the same treaty has resulted in the incorporation of more than 115,000 Mexican citizens into the American society. This community that came to be known as Mexican-Americans was basically the inhabitants of Mexican lands that became part of the United States as a result of this treaty. This new situation created by this treaty would, whether for the new inhabitants or for the United States as a homogeneous community known historically with its Anglo-Saxon character, constitute a challenge. Thus, this paper will investigate the political legacy rooted in the aforementioned war, and that still to this day stands out from time to time at the level of the United States politics including of late what came to be called Trump’s border wall.
