Patrick Modiano est l’un des écrivains les plus importants dans la seconde moitié du XXème siècle. Il est le quinzième écrivain français qui a reçu le prix Nobel. En , il a reçu le prix Goncourt pour Rue des Boutiques Obscures. Le thème essentiel qui apparaît dans toute l’oeuvre de Modiano est la quête de l’identité. Les caractéristiques de ce roman résident dans l’importance accordée à la quête identitaire et l’utilisation de l’enquête policière.
