المستخلص: هدفت الدراسة للتقصي عن مدى تحسن استخدام طلاب اللغة الإنجليزية لاستراتيجيات التواصل من خلال استخدام التعلم والتدريس عبر المهام. استخدمت الباحثة المنهجين الكمي والكيفي لجمع البيانات، وقد تم ذلك باستخدام الامتحان القبلي والبعدي والمقابلة كأدوات لجمع البيانات وكانت عينة الدراسة 40 من طلاب اللغة الإنجليزية بكلية التربية- جامعة دنقلا كما أجاب عن المقابلة 16 طالبا وطالبة. أظهرت النتائج تحسنا ملحوظا في استخدام الطلاب لاستراتيجيات التواصل في الامتحان البعدي كما أظهرت أن توجهات الطلاب تجاه استخدام أسلوب التعلم والتدريس عبر المهام كانت إيجابية. أوصت الدراسة بضرورة استخدام أساتذة اللغة الإنجليزية للأساليب التفاعلية عبر المهام كما أوصت بضرورة تدريس استراتيجيات التواصل كجزء من مهارات التواصل الشفهي باللغة الإنجليزية.

Being able to communicate effectively is a much sought after skill by EFL students at tertiary level. This study examines how oral communication strategy use can be improved through task based language learning and teaching, and EFL students' perceptions of TBLT. To achieve the research objectives, qualitative and quantitative methods were used. A pretest followed by treatment and posttest were conducted to 40 EFL students at the Faculty of Education- University of Dongola. Following that, 16 students from the total sample were interviewed to explore their opinion on TBLT and how it affects their use of communication strategies. The findings of the experiment showed that the students successfully transferred all six taught communication strategies to their utterances in the recorded conversations after receiving the 6 weeks of communication strategy instruction. The interview findings showed that the students positively acknowledge the role of task based instruction in improving their use of communication strategies. The recommendations are that teachers should be more creative in constructing interactive learning experiences through tasks, and to teach communication strategies as part of oral communication skills.
