الهدف من هذه الدراسة معرفة قيمة الترجمة كمنهج تدريسي وليس فقط وسيلة لإعداد لمهنة الترجمة، وتمثلت مشكلة الدراسة في محاولة اكتشاف الدور الحيوي للترجمة في العملية التعليمية لتسهيل اكتساب اللغة الأجنبية المستهدفة في العملية التعليمية. لتحديد مكانة الترجمة في عملية تعليم اللغة، استخدم الباحث المنهج الوصفي والاستبانة لجمع البيانات بالإضافة إلى المنهج التحليلي، المعلومات التي توصلت لها الدراسة تم عرضها في شكل جداول ورسومات بيانية وبينت البيانات التي جمعت من عينة الدراسة أن الترجمة كوسيلة لتعليم اللغة الأجنبية مفضلة عند معظم المتعلمين وأن تطبيق الترجمة في العملية التعليمية في المناهج ليست عملية مفتوحة وإنما تحتاج للتخطيط والتنظيم.
The purpose of this paper is to consider the value of translation as pedagogy and not only a means to prepare translation professional. The problem of this study represented in trying to find out the vital role of translation in educational process as a means of facilitating foreign language acquision intended for educational purposes. To investigate the place of translation in the process of language learning, the researcher used the descriptive method and a questionnaire as a method of data collection as well as statistical analysis. The information obtained is presented in form of tables and charts .The data collected from the study sample revealed that translation as a language learning tool is favourable by most of the foreign language learners .The study concluded with recommendations regarding the traditional use of translation in foreign language learning, and that the implementation of it and its corporation in education and language curricula is not an open process, rather it needs more planning and organization.
