الكناية لون من ألوان التعبير البياني وهي الأصل الثالث في علم البيان، وقد عني بها النقاد العرب والبلاغيون والمفسرون وعرفوا لها مكانتها في الإيضاح والتأثير. فأسلوب الكناية له لونه الخاص به الذي يختلف عن الأساليب البيانية الأخرى كالتشبيه والاستعارة، فهو مع إمتاعه يمتاز بالإقناع، لأنه لا يأتيك بالدعوى إلا ومعها دليلها، وتستطيع بوساطة الكناية أن تعبر عن كثير مما تتحاشى التصريح به، فهي باب واسع تجد النفس فيها المكمن الآمن والطريق الذي ليس فيه خطورة ولا وعورة، وهي تمكنك من تحقيق قصدك في النيل من خصمك والنكاية به وإشفاء غل نفسك منه من غير أن تصفه وصفا ظاهرا أو تجعل له سبيلا إليك ومن دون أن تخدش وجه الأدب. أما الكناية في كتاب الله العزيز فلها خصائصها وأغراضها، وقد أشرنا إلى بعض الشذرات من هذه الجواهر الفنية خلال عرض العديد من الشواهد القرآنية في طيات هذا البحث، ووضحنا تعريف الكناية وفرقها عن الإرداف والتعريض وأساليبها، وأقسامها، وبلاغتها. والغاية من البحث بيان مفهوم الكناية في القرآن الكريم، وبيان بلاغتها زيادة في تدبر كتاب الله وقد اتبعت المنهج الوصفي جمع المعلومات وتقديمها. وفيما يلي تعاريف بعض المصطلحات الواردة في البحث: الكناية: هو عدول عن لفظ إلى آخر أحسن منه أو أليق أو أنه يقوم مقام الاسم أو غير ذلك. والإرداف: هو أن يريد المتكلم معنى ولا يعبر عنه باللفظ الموضوع له ولا بدلالة الإشارة، بل بلفظ يرادفه. التعريض: أن تذكر شيئا يدل به على شيء لم تذكره. المجاز في اللغة: هو التجاوز والتعدي. وفي الاصطلاح اللغوي هو صرف اللفظ عن معناه الظاهر إلى معنى مرجوح بقرينة. أي أن اللفظ يقصد به غير معناه الحرفي، بل معنى له علاقة غير مباشرة بالمعنى الحرفي. والمجاز من الوسائل البلاغية التي تكثر في كلام الناس، البليغ منهم وغيرهم، وليس من الكذب في شيء كما توهم البعض. تعريف الاستعارة لغة: رفع الشيء وتحويله من مكان إلى آخر، كأن يقال: استعرت من فلان شيئا، أي حولته من يده إلى يدي، أما اصطلاحا، فقد عرفها كثير من الأدباء والبلغاء، كالجاحظ والجرجاني، وكل أقوالهم فيما يتعلق فيها تتلخص في أنها استعمال كلمة، أو معنى لغير ما وضعت به، أو جاءت له لشبه بينهما؛ بهدف التوسع في الفكرة، أو هي تشبيه حذف أحد أركانه.
