تتمثل المشكلة البحثية في رصد التأثيرات السلبية التي تحدثها الألعاب الإلكترونية على المراهقين الذين يمارسونها، ودور الوالدين في الحد من هذه الآثار من خلال الرقابة الوالدية. يتمثل الهدف الرئيسي للبحث في معرفة أهم الآثار السلبية لممارسة الأطفال للألعاب الإلكترونية من وجهة نظر الوالدين. ودورهم في الرقابة على استخدام أبنائهم لهذه الألعاب. والبحث من البحوث الوصفية التي استخدمت منهج المسح لعينة من الوالدين قوامها ۲۰۰ نصفهم من الذكور (الآباء) والنصف الآخر من الإناث (الأمهات)، ومثلت العينة الحضر والريف من محافظتي القاهرة والشرقية. واعتمد البحث على نظرية الحتمية التكنولوجية ونموذج الرقابة الوالدية. واستخدمت الباحثة استمارة استبيان لجمع البيانات من الوالدين. وتوصل البحث إلى وجود علاقة ارتباطية دالة إحصائيا بين مستوي الرقابة الوالدية والتأثيرات السلبية لممارسة أبنائهم للألعاب الإلكترونية، أي أنه كلما ارتفع مستوي الرقابة الوالدية للوالدين على أبنائهم في ممارستهم للألعاب الإلكترونية؛ كلما قلت التأثيرات السلبية لهذه الألعاب على الأبناء. وهذا يؤكد أهمية الرقابة الوالدية، والدور الذي يمكن أن يقوم به الوالدان للحد من التأثير السلبي لتلك الألعاب على الأبناء.
The research problem is to know the negative effects that electronic games have on adolescents who play them, and to monitor the role of parents in reducing these effects through parental supervision. The main objective of the research is to know the most important negative the effects of children's playing electronic games from the parents' point of view. And their role in supervising and directing their children's use of these games. The research is from descriptive research that used the survey method for a sample of 200 parents, half of whom are males (fathers) and the other half are females (mothers). The sample represented urban and rural areas from Cairo and Sharia governorates. The research relied on the theory of technological determinism and the parental control model. The researcher used a questionnaire to collect data from the parents. The research found that there is a statistically significant correlation between the level of parental control and the negative effects of their children's practice of electronic games, that is, the higher the level of parental control over their children in their practice of electronic games; The less negative effects of these games on children. This confirms the importance of parental control, and the role that parents can play to reduce the negative impact of these games on their children.
