| 520 | |b A magic square is a square array of numbers where the rows, columns, diagonals and co diagonals add up to the same number called a magic constant. There are different types of magic squares as; zero magic square, semi-magic square, normal magic square, bordered magic square, pan diagonal magic square, and regular magic squares etc., and combining the concepts of magic squares and linear algebra, the family of all magic squares of the same order can be considered as a vector space over any field, while the family of zero (regular, reflective, corner, skew-regular, pan diagonal, strongly) magic squares of the same order forms a subspace, therefore the dimensions of these vector spaces can be computed. Our aim in this paper, is to give a brief survey of the vector space of magic squares and consider the subspaces of some particular types of magic squares, additionally, we enumerate some of their algebraic properties and their dimensions over the field of real numbers using the rank and nullity theorem. | ||
