The research problem is represented in decreasing numbers of The Food Manufacturing Facilities in Egypt, that would like to apply Quality Standards, due to difficulties related to financing, restructuring and other reasons, thereby reducing the efficiency and competitiveness in local and global markets against those that applying Quality Standards. In addition, it is noticed that there is a discrepancy between the facilities in utilization levels from Quality Standards application. Consequently, from the perspective of the research problem, the research sheds the light primarily on the role of Quality Standards application in improving the manufacturing process efficiency in Food Manufacturing Facilities. The research also aims at recognizing the quality concept in Food Manufacturing Facilities as well as the current situation for Egyptian Food Industries. Besides, the research depends on using both methods of descriptive and quantitative analysis to achieve the research objectives, plus other analytical methods. The Secondary published and unpublished data has been used in different entities related to the research objective. In order to know about the effect of Quality Standards application on Food Manufacturing Facilities, a special questionnaire has been formatted for 13 Food Industry Facilities in Egypt applied Quality Standards to improve the manufacturing efficiency. The intentional sample method is used for the facilities that obtained ISO2020:2018 certificates. Furthermore, the effect of Quality Standards application on those facilities has been evaluated throughout the questionnaire, this was in 2019; after a year of Quality Standards application. It has been shown that the production average value of Food Industry Facilities, registered within the official economy of the state, reached about 149.6 billion pounds as an average for the period 2010-2019 AD. In addition, it has been proved that there is a general increase in the production value, especially at the beginning of 2017 AD. By reviewing the production value development of Food Industries in Egypt, it becomes clear that there is a statistically significant increase from the 0.01 probability level of Food Industry production value in Egypt for the period 2010-2019, amount 35.7 billion pounds annually, with an annual growth rate of about 23.8%. By measuring the relative impact of manufacturing time, manufacturing costs, loss percentage, and sales volume as independent variables on the production quantity as a dependent variable, before and after Quality Standards application on Food Manufacturing Facilities in the survey sample, it is found that there is a statistically significant effect of those variables on the production quantity before and after the Quality Standards application. Nevertheless, the effect became better after the Quality Standards application. It indicated that the application of Quality Standards in Food Manufacturing Facilities reduced production time, limited the negative impact of increasing production periods on the efficiency of production process, and reduced the negative impact of changes in production costs; such as fluctuations in production supplies. It also reduced the negative impact of percentage loss in manufacturing processes on the quantities produced, improved the efficiency of production requirements significantly limited the waste in raw materials during the manufacturing processes, improved response of the manufacturing facility, and increased the production volume as a result of increased sales. Thus, the facility becomes able to respond to market requirements and react to the increase in the demand volume for the quantities put on the market because of the increase in demand after improving production efficiency. The research introduces a set of recommendations; the most important of which is the state's support for Food Manufacturing Facilities in obtaining manufacturing quality certificates, by providing the necessary technical support for Food Manufacturing Facilities to train workers on Quality Standards, improving and developing production technology in Food Manufacturing Facilities by lifting import burdens from modern production lines, and providing adequate and up-to-date information on quality management systems through increasing effective communication between Food Manufacturing Facilities and between the concerned authorities. |
