It is also associated with the work of Rosch, Lakoff, and others. Despite the differences in their starting points, their work converges on a set of theoretical and methodological principles that consider the linguistic phenomenon to be a psychological and mental phenomenon that cannot be understood in isolation from other mental phenomena. Moreover, metaphor in cognitive studies is a thinking mechanism and a mental process that is inherent in the mind. It allows us to perceive the world around us and interact with it. In this research, we will shed light on the cognitive reading of Arabic rhetoric, which was practiced by Arab linguistic researchers in order to root this theory in most rhetorical issues and establish the roots of the cognitive theory in our rhetorical heritage.
