Addressing learners’ needs is a crucial step towards achieving better teaching/learning results. The purpose of this study is to shed light on ESP course addressed to Natural Sciences students at ENS (Ecole Normale Supérieure) Kouba, Algiers which is a Higher Teacher Training School. This study explores the circumstances under which ESP course teaching/learning process is taking place. This includes the examination of ESP course content, students’ preferences, ESP course prerequisites, students’ academic and/or professional needs, etc. To answer the research questions, we have opted for a qualitative descriptive research and chosen a questionnaire as a data gathering tool. The results show that most participants are interested in having an ESP course. It also shows that some of them claim that their English level does not meet ESP course prerequisites. Moreover, the majority of participants state that the current ESP course does not fulfill their academic and professional needs. |
