| 520 | |b This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the development of African political thought in terms of the worlds of thinkers, ideas, and things across three distinct periods: traditional, modern, and contemporary. By adopting a comparative historical approach, the research seeks to clarify the complex interaction between the historical, cultural, and ideological factors that shaped political ideas on the African continent. Accordingly, the study begins with an overview of the significant trends in African political thought to identify the leading figures, texts, and movements within traditional, modern, and contemporary African political thought. Through chronological investigation, African political thought can be classified into three categories (traditional, modern, and contemporary), each representing a specific period. This thought has emerged from ancient thinkers and political leaders in Africa to contemporary thinkers. Furthermore, the paper discusses postcolonial nationalist movements and the intellectual contributions of scholars such as Cheikh Anta Diop, Walter Rodney, and Ali Al Mazrui. It also addresses contemporary challenges and debates within African political discourse, including governance, development, democracy, and the digitalization of African political thought. Overall, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the complexities and nuances of African political thought and its importance in shaping political discourse, governance, and development on the continent. Ultimately, the study calls for future research endeavors to adopt an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on insights from various fields to enrich our understanding of African political thought. Furthermore, researchers must prioritize including diverse voices and perspectives, including marginalized groups and communities, to ensure that the analysis of political thought is more inclusive than we have. | ||
