|a تعد الأسرة أولى المؤسسات الاجتماعية للطفل ذي الاحتياجات الخاصة حيث توفر له الرعاية الأسرية المتمثلة في الكيان الأسري والرعاية الشاملة خاصة في مرحلة الطفولة، وهي مرحلة البناء النفسي واكتشاف الحالة، هذه الأخيرة والتي تعد البداية لسلسة من الضغوط والجهود والمحاولات والسعي الحثيث لتوفير أفضل فرص ممكنة للطفل، إلا أن المعلومات عن الإعاقة وطرق المساعدة قليلة جدا، إضافة لذلك فإن الأهل عند اكتشاف الحالة يكونون في وضعية اصطدام وغير قادرين على التفكير السليم، لذا فانهم بحاجة لمن يدلهم على الطرق التي يمكنهم استخدامها لمساعدة ابنهم وعدم الاعتماد على جهودهم الفردية في البحث.
