المستخلص: تبحث هذه الدراسة في نشأة الاستشراق التاريخية، واستقصاء مفهومه ومرجعياته، وتبين وظيفته البنائية والكشفية، مستعرضة أهم دوافع نشأته التي ارتبطت باستراتيجية الاستكشاف الاستعماري للشرق العربي خاصة، ثم عرجت على بيان أهم الإنجازات المعرفية التي نتجت من نشاط هذه حركة الاستشراق، واستجلت أمثلة للوظيفية الاستشراقية في كشف بنية التكوين الفكري والثقافي للإنسان العربي، وعملت هذه الدراسة على استقراء أثر مناهجه في تثقيف حركة البحث الشرقية، وتبين أهم أدواته ووسائله في ترسيخ وجوده في تقديم آداب الشرق برؤية غربية، لا تخلو من هدفية مؤدلجة، كانت أشد تأثيرا في تفكيك بنى ثقافة الشرق ومعارفه وآدابه، ثم تعمل على إنشاء قراءة جديدة له، وهذا ما دعا الدراسة إلى الكشف عن آثاره السلبية والإيجابية في تكوين معارف الشرق وآدابه ونقده، ولا سيما أن التفكير النقد العربي منذ عصر النهضة استلهم مناهج الاستشراق ورؤاه النقدية في إعادة قراءة آداب اللغة العربية القديمة ومعارفه، وإعادة تحليل الذهنية العربية وتحليلها وتركيبها في صيغ نقدية جديدة.

This study examines the historical origins of Orientalism, explores its concept and references, and elucidates its constructive and exploratory role. It highlights the main motives behind its emergence, which are intertwined with the colonial strategy of exploring the Arab East, with a particular focus on its constructive and exploratory function. The study then presents the main cognitive achievements resulting from the activities of the Orientalist movement. It provides examples of Orientalist functionalism in revealing the intellectual and cultural framework of the Arab individual. It also examines the impact of Orientalist methodologies on the formation of the Orientalist movement. It highlights the key tools and methods used by Orientalism to establish its presence in presenting Eastern literature through a Western lens, often with an underlying ideological purpose. This influence proved to be particularly effective in dismantling the foundations of Eastern culture, knowledge and literature, and subsequently giving rise to a new interpretation. The study sheds light on both the negative and positive effects of Orientalism on the formation of Eastern knowledge, literature, and criticism. In particular, Arab critical thought since the Renaissance has been influenced by Orientalist methods and critical perspectives, which have profoundly shaped the reappraisal of ancient Arabic literature, knowledge, and the analysis of Arab mentality, now approached from innovative critical perspectives.
