|a يحاول هذا البحث دراسة قصيدتي "الملاح الهرم" للشاعر الإنجليزي "صامويل تيلوركولردج" و"الغراب" للشاعر الأمريكي "ادجر ألن بو" من منظور نفسي. ويتناول الباحث القصيدتين باعتبارهما انعكاسا للحالة النفسية للمؤلفين. كما يوضح البحث أن سلوك الشخصيات الرئيسية والصور والأحداث في القصيدتين يمكن تفسيرها باستخدام مفاهيم علم النفس حيث يمكن الربط بين القصيدتين والأحلام حيث يتكرر فيهما رموز الأحلام التي تعكس الخوف والصراعات اللاإرادية ويتمثل ذلك في اختيار الشخصيات والزمان والمكان والأحداث في القصيدتين. والحقيقة أن الشاعرين يصلحا للدراسة من منظور التحليل النفسي حيث إنهما مرا بظروف قاسية وصراعات نفسية متكررة في حياتهما مما أدى إلى تكرار العقد النفسية والإحساس العميق بالذنب والأحلام المؤلمة وعقدة التكرار لدى الذات المتكلمة في القصيدتين. كما أن كلا الشخصيتين الرئيسيتين في القصيدتين قد فقدا التوازن النفسي كنتيجة حتمية لوقوعهما فريسة للعقد النفسية المتواصلة.
|b This study tries to place "The Ancient Mariner" and "The Raven" in a psychoanalytic frame by focusing on the two poems as products of their authors' psyches. It argues that the major characters' behavior, narrative events, and images can be interpreted in terms of psychoanalytic concepts. It regards these two poems as analogous to dreams as the recurrent dream symbols reveal unconscious fears, wounds, and unsettled conflicts not only onto the characters and setting, but onto the events portrayed as well. In fact, both poets qualify for a psychoanalytic reading as they suffered from great traumas in their lives. Both poems are born of nightmares and trauma survival as traumatic syndromes are normal human responses to extreme psychological conditions. Both the mariner and the student keep recycling and reconstructing their traumatic experiences as these painful conditions gave them sleepless nights. They have a profound sense of guilt and are tormented with daily nightmarish visions. They have lost their psychological equilibrium and sense of harmony as a result of their lifetime captivity to trauma and guilt.
