المستخلص: لقد تأسست صورة النبي محمد صلي الله عليه وسلم في المنظومة الفكرية الغربية ومخيالها الأدبي ووعيها الجمعي بناءً على تصورات نمطية ورؤى مشوهة وعدوانية مركبة من فوبيا متوهمة عقائد عنصرية متطرفة وأيديولوجيات إقصائية ومركزيات ثقافية ومعرفية متمركزة حول منجزها وعرقها، معتقدة بتفوقه المعرفي والعرقي ومؤمنة بدونية (الآخر) وفقدانه قدرات التفكير والإبداع والتطور، وملكة التمدن بتفاصيله وتجلياته من ثقافة للتسامح والتعايش وذكاء في الإبداع والإنتاج واختزاله في معادلات جاهزة تجمع صفات الوحشية والبربرية والاستجابة الغرائزية. وقد خاض في موضوع سيرة المصطفى صلي الله عليه وسلم حشد هائل من المستشرقين ونخب فكرية بمختلف توجهاتها وانتماءاتها، من أدباء وتعليميين ديداكتيكيين وعسكريين بمناهج مختلفة ومقاربات متنوعة، ولكن أحادية المرجعية وقطبيتها التي وحدت مصادر المعرفة ومواردها ومناهلها ولدت كتابات واحدة لباحثين متعددين، اتسمت بتحريف التاريخ وتزوير الوقائع وتشويه الجميل وتدنيس المقدس. يسعى الباحث في هذا البحث إلى تفكيك مثل هذه المغالطات، ولا سيما مغالطات المستشرق الإنجليزي (همفري بريدو) (Prideaux, Humphrey) من خلال كتابه: حياة محمد أو حين نكتشف الحقيقة الكاملة للدجل، حيث يجري مقاربة نقدية في المنهج والمضمون تكشف انحراف الفكر والتصور ومزالق التأويل.

The western intellectual system, literary imagination, and collective consciousness have constructed an image of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his Household) built on stereotypes, misconstrual, and hostile notions. These are an indication of a deluded phobia, extremist doctrines, exclusivist ideologies, and cultural concepts closely linked to the notion of superiority of western ethnicity and epistemological achievements. This ideological system maintains the other’s inferiority, intellectual, innovative and developmental incompetence, and lack of modernity with its so-called culture of tolerance, coexistence, and ingenuity in innovation and production. Thus, the “other” is reduced to ready-made stereotypical images which combine the characteristics of savagery, barbarism, and acting on impulse. A large number of orientalists and elite intellectuals have discussed the biography of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his Household). Spanning various affiliations and inclinations, literary figures, didactic instructors, and even military figures have tackled the Prophet’s biography employing different methodologies and approaches. Despite this variety, a unilateral western authority has unified the sources of knowledge and generated a single character of writings despite the plurality of authors – writings which are characterized by the distortion of history, twisting historical facts, and violating the sacred. This essay aims to eradicate these orientalist fallacies, particularly focusing on the fallacies which the English orientalist Humphrey Prideaux incorporated in his book The True Nature of Imposture Fully Displayed in the Life of Mahomet. This essay conducts a criticism of the book’s methodology and content, and reveals Prideaux’s misconceptions and pitfalls in interpretation.
