Through several development programs launched in recent decades, Algerian olive growing has undergone profound changes aimed at improving the productivity of olive farms and increasing the area under olive trees in order to ensure a qualitative and quantitative increase in the national production of olives and olive oil. The steppe and southern regions, following the example of the wilaya of Djelfa, have integrated these development programs, thus changing the mapping of the olive tree in Algeria with the emergence of new areas and new techniques. 20 years after the implementation of these programs, it appears that many positive economic, social and environmental results have been achieved that have contributed to strengthening the sustainability of these farms and food systems in this region.
