المستخلص: Terminology is an essential part of scientific research, forming the core of knowledge development. Without clear definitions, conceptual understanding becomes difficult. Scientific disciplines use linguistic principles to create and organize terminology, contributing to the shaping of their identities. Although Ferdinand de Saussure made fundamental contributions to linguistics, Arabic terminology continues to face significant interpretive challenges. This study aims to clarify the nuances of linguistic terminology and Saussure's theory of the linguistic sign by exploring the conceptual framework of this theory. It also examines the state of linguistic terms in contemporary Arab culture and Saussure's approach to linguistic phenomena. The main findings reveal the intrinsic connection between the signifier and the signified, challenging Saussure's concept of arbitrariness by highlighting inherent contradictions. The study revisits Saussure's theory, uncovering its complexities and calling for a reevaluation of established linguistic norms.
