|a عرفت دول العراق القديم تطور ورقي وتحضر عبر العصور، وكان ذلك بتوفر عدة عوامل طبيعية كالمجاري المائية (نهري دجلة والفرات...)، والأراضي الخصبة المنتشرة على ضفاف الأنهار والمعروف أنها منطقة تدخل في نطاق ما يسمى الهلال الخصيب. ولم يكن هذا كاف، بل ساعد هذه الدول للرقي حضاريا العلوم والمعرفة خاصة بعد تطور الكتابة المسمارية التي أصبحت ملائمة للتعليم وتلقين العلوم والمعرفة لطلاب العلم في مدارس وفرت لها الدولة إمكانيات معتبرة التي تتوفر على تنظيم في المستوى، وتلقن فيها قواعد المعرفة مثل الكتابة واللغة والحساب، ويتعلم الطالب في مستويات اعلى مختلف العلوم مثل الهندسة والطب والآداب واللغات.
