تعد هذه الدراسة من الدراسات التي تتعلق بالجانب الفكري أكثر من أي جوانـب أخري لأن أسرة الـجماعة هي أساسا" ليست أسرة علمية عرفت بـالعلم وإنمـا جـاء الاختصاص الفكري بما طرح عنهم هنا نتيجة لشهرتهم ومكانتهم في عدد من العلوم وإلا فأن دورهم الإداري كقضاة مثلا" فضلا" عن الأدوار السياسية والاجتماعية أشهر مـن أن يذكر، وقد تناولت هذه الدراسة دورهم بالعلوم المختلفة ومشاركاتهم المتعددة في ميـادين كثيرة من ميادين الفكر ولعل ابرز هذه المشاركات تأليف الكتب والتدريس خاصـة فـي العلوم الدينية مثل علم التفسير والفقه وغيرها من العلوم، كما إن هناك نصيب لـلأدب - شعر ونثر - في الدور الفكري لشخصيات منهم، وغيرها من المشاركات الأخرى التي تقـع ضمن خانة الجانب الفكري، وربما نجد أن شخصيات هذه الأسرة لم تكن علـى مسـتوى فكري واحد على الأقل من ناحية الإسهام وإنما نجد إن هناك من تميز منهم بعلوم معينة على حساب علوم أخري فيما نجد إن بعضهم كان له السبق في اغلب العلوم.
