المستخلص: Education had had a special position in the life of societies and individuals from antiquity. It Performs an important role in the preservation of the tradition of society . It is the means of tradition to develop and enrich it. Through education , the most important elements for the promotion of society are fully prepared For this reason , the educational process should start from the philosophy and aims of society moving towards the future aiming at the fulfillment of its hopes. Nations make great effort to reveal the wealth and powers they have and exploit what they have to face the great achievements in the human knowledge which our generation witnesses through reaching solutions to the phenomena distributing humanity and pave the way to improve the conditions by understanding these phenomena. Their exactness is the best proof that this concept is correct. There is no doubt that the mental abilities are considered from the most important characteristics in the human personality . Psychologists have faced great efforts to study them and to put mental standards for measuring them . From here the importance of this research springs up to reveal the obstacles to learning process that students suffer from . This research aims at: 1 - Making ourselves acquainted with the preparatory stage students with high general mental abilities according to the variables: a- Sex (boys / girls) b- Specialization (scientific / literary) 2- Revealing the low scholarly accomplishments of the students with high general mental abilities according to the variables: a- sex (boys / gills), b- specialization (scientific / literary). 3- Revealing the difficulties that face the students with high general mental abilities and cause their low achievements according to the variables: a- sex ( boys / gills), b- specialization (scientific / literary ). The research has been limited to know the learning difficulties of the preparatory stage students with high general mental abilities and low achievement. The questionnaire has been used as a studying means, It has been divided into six kinds of difficulties: (The subject studied difficulties, difficulties concerning the teacher, difficulties concerning the school, difficulties concerning the family, difficulties concerning the students, and difficulties concerning the teaching methods) The she - researcher has used the following statistical (means so as to analyze the information statistically : 11. Birson's coefficient of correlation 12. The probable medium 13. The centesimal weight 14. Chi-square The result of the statistical analysis of the units are as follows 15 After revealing the low achievement of the students with high general mental abilities according to the variables: a- sex (boys / gills), b- specialization ( scientific / literary). Difference of statistical sign have appeared between the student of the scientific specialization and those of the library specialization . The average of the scientific specialization has been (46 .3 ) marks while that of the library specialization has been (40.5 ) marks. 16 After knowing the difficulties that face the students with high general mental abilities and make them get low achievements according to the variables: a- sex ( boys / gills), b- specialization (scientific / literary). The difficulties concerning the subject studies have got the highest rank for the probable medium has been ( 1.78 ) and the centesimal weight ( 89 % ). The difficulties concerning the family have got the sixth rank for the probable medium has been ( 1.71 ) and the centesimal weight ( 85.5 % ). The Researcher has reached the following results : 15. One of the main difficulties that teachers face in schools is the littleness of the students' daily duty preparation . 16. The role of the fathers and those in charge has a great effect in the fulfillment of teaching aims. Thus this research gas revealed the weakness of this point. 17. The teaching methods are still classical and unable to provide the students with the skills and experiences concerning the scientific and literary subject. 18. Poor education and scientific guidance by the supervisors to the teachers. 19. Little observation of individual differences between the students 6. Little consciousness of the teaching aids importance increasing the lesson activity. Depending on the result of this study . The researcher suggests the following recommendations : 17 Insisting that schools should strengthen the relationship with the parents and those in charge and urge them to help their sons and daughters to know the difficulties they face in learning so as to overcome them. 18 Supplying schools with educational aids quantitatively and qualitatively and introducing the modern educational techniques into schools to help the teachers to make the facts and concepts clear for the students. Consequently the teaching aims will be fulfilled. 19 Making training and qualifying course for the teachers to raise their efficiencies and to develop their powers and to inform them of the modern styles in education and teaching methods. These educational courses should be held during suitable times so as to go well with their natural and Psychological circumstances. 20 Supplying schools with libraries provided with scientific and literary books and specifying certain times for the students to visit the libraries and read to improve their mental skills and have additional experiences. To complete this research the researcher suggests making a similar study to know the learning difficulties in the primary and intermediate stages and a study to know the learning difficulties of those with high general mental abilities all over Iraq . \
