|a Parental practices are playing a very important role in the formation of self concept among children. They are also considered a very important aspect of the aspects of dealing with handicapped children, due to its great effect on their social adjustment and development of many aspects of their personalities. Deafness is considered the most difficult handicap because it make the person socially isolated from the world around him. Thus, great attention has been given to deaf children that concentrate on finding ways of communication and the attitudes of others especially parents. The importance and attention given to this group may be also rise from the increasingly percentage of handicapped and deaf in specific, to develop their abilities and benfiting from their skills in developing are society as they are efficient elements. Many studies have shown that deaf are very intelligent and have the ability of searching for knowledge and creativity that may not differed from the abilities of non handicapped. Islam, also, has urged us to care about disabilities fourteen centuries ago. The problem of the study may be shown in the fact that some parental practices with their deaf sons are considered maltreatments. The current study tires to find answers of the following questions: 1- Are there any differences in fathers parental practices as perceived by high and low creative abilities of deaf children? 2- Are there any differences in the mother's parental practices as perceived by high and low creative abilities of deaf children? 3- Is there a relationship between father's parental practices as perceived by deaf children and their creative abilities? 4- Is there a relationship between mother's parental practices as perceived by deaf children and their creative abilities?
|a Aims of the Study: 1- Trying to achieve a scientific understanding that assure that being deaf doesn't necessarily mean that they are not mentally competent. 2- Examining the differences in perceived parental practices (father / mother from) in the light of levels some creative abilities (high versus low) among deaf children. 3- Examining the relationship between parental practices (father / mother from) and creative abilities. The Importance of the Study: 1- Adding to the theortical literature that deal with creative thinking among deaf in Egypt especially with the scarce of studies that dealt with this subject. 2- Helping parents and providers of social care of deaf to under stand deaf and hard of hearing through developing positive attitudes and trying to discover their creative abilities and developing these abilities. 3- Helping deaf children through in forming them that they are not less than non handicapped and they are able to participate in life and society effectively. The Hypotheses: 1- There are no statistically significant differences in fathers parental practices perceived by deaf with high/low creative abilities. 2- There are no statistically significant differences in mother's parental practices perceived by deaf with high/low creative abilities. 3- There is no statistically significant relationship between father's parental practices and the creative abilities of the deaf children. 4- There is no statistically significant relationship between mother's parental practices and the creative abilities of the deaf children. ¬Sample: The sample of the study consisted of 80 (40 mole – 40 female) that are randomly chosen from three schools of deaf children whose ages ranged from 12-17 in Menout, Ashmoun & Shibin Al Koum in Menoufi Governote. Instruments: 1- Creative thinking measure (A form) prepared by Torrance. 2- Pictured intelligence measure. Prepared by Ahmed Zaki Saleh. 3- Parental practices as perceived by sons questionnaire. Prepared by Rashad Abdel Aziz. Statistical Techniques: 1- Pearson correlation coefficient. 2- T test. 3- Means. 4- Standard deviations. The Results of the Study:
|a (1) There were statistically significant differences between high and low creative deaf children in the following dimensions: control that based upon regulations, encouragement of self-independence, tolerance, imposing responsibilities of the father's parental practices in favor of highly creative deaf children. (2) There were statistically significant difference between high and low creative deaf children in emotional punishment in favor of low creative deaf children. (3) There was a positive correlation between control that based upon regulations and elaborations; intimacy and flexibility and fluency; expectation reliability and the total score of creativity and all elements of creative thinking; encouragement of self independence and all elements of creative thinking; tolerance and all elements of creative thinking; control and total score of creativity protection and total score of creativity; emotional punishment and originality; physical punishment and flexibility and fluency in the father's parental practices. (4) There was statistically significant correlation between control that that based upon regulations and originility; intimacy and all elements of creative thinking, expectation reliability and the total score of creativity; encouragement of self-independence and the total score of creativity and all elements of creative thinking, imposing responsibilities and all elements of creative; demands of achievement and the total score of creativity; control, originality, fluency and protection and the total score of creativity and all elements of creative thinking; deprivation from excellency and the total score of creativity; physical punishment and the total score of creativity and the all elements of creative thinking in the mother's parental practices as perceived by deaf children.
