المستخلص: On April 1, 2014 British Prime Minister David Cameron announced that his government would form an inquiry commission to make a complete picture of the philosophy and activities of the Muslim Brotherhood, based on information gathered by the MI5 and MI6 services. Concern is publicized of the group’s suspected relation to extremism and violence. Therefore, it has become wise for London to comprehend better what it represents and how it intends to achieve its targets as wells as the impacts on the country. It turns out that there are pressures by Saudi Arabia and the UAE in favour of the investigation, leading to a dispute between British decision-making institutions. It is noteworthy that the UK intelligence is the body pushing for such an action, contrary to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. However, what is interesting is that the above mentioned inquiry does not look into particular individuals’ activities. Furthermore, any criminal investigation must be conducted by relevant security and judiciary departments, not by media. This raises questions on the motives and approaches of the British government to the major political Islam movement, not only in Egypt, but also in the Arab and, perhaps, entire world. The main question to be answered here is: Does it benefit the UK in any way to engage with such a key Islamist group?
