ٍ This study examines the translation strategies utilized by three major and widely used bilingual English-Arabic dictionaries. It focuses on the manner that these dictionaries treat randomly selected terms from four specialized areas, namely Linguistics and TESOL, Culture and Anthropology, Translation, and Literature. The study compares the three dictionaries’ treatment of the data in terms of economy, transparency, accuracy, practicality, and comprehensive-ness. The study also provides ample examples to illustrate the major findings. |
